Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment By James Patterson

The Angel Expriment was a thrilling book that felt like a roller coster from cover to cover. I couldn't put it down.  The gang members (Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel) are hilarious and Max's narration feels like one of your friends talking.  Over all it was a amazing read and I loved it.

This is the first book in Patterson's series, The Fugitives.  It is a science fiction series that is set in present day America.  Max, the main character, is told she must save the world.  She also has a secret mission to find the best chocolate chip cookie in New York City.  Two big jobs and she is up for the challenge.  The stories unfold a sinister plot that Max and her friends must thwart.

Max narrates much of the series.  She is arrogant and funny.  I found myself laughing outloud in class as I read the book.  Max is 14 years old.  She has special powers because of some genetic experiments.  She can fly, but a girl with wings in New York City stands out just a bit.  These special powers are both blessings and curses.

The book does contain some objectionable language (curses).  So beware of this when recommending to young readers.
